Zazell “Zaz” Staheli, as featured in National Geographic Channel’s “Alaska Wing Men”, has been flying in Northern Alaska bush country for the past 10 years, with her first solo flight on July 14th 2001. She has been a pilot throughout her young adult life, even while getting her degree at University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). She has earned two Associates degrees and one Bachelors degree. Zaz is continuing her education in dentistry at Marquett School of Dentistry to become a general dentist and return home to Northwest Alaska.
Many people ask Zaz if she remembers the first time she flew an airplane, she usually replies with a chuckle, “That’s like asking someone if they remember their first breath of air!”
When not flying, Zaz is home raising her two boys Joe and Atigan, who have an insatiable appetite for all things outdoors such as Snowgos, hunting, fishing, and of course flying!
Zaz is very thankful that Lee’s Sea Air has been such a family oriented business; it took the whole family together to make things operate smoothly.
